Research interests: narrative stylistics, corpus translation studies. Prior Reading: Chapter 6 “Narrative Time” in Shen Dan’s Western Narratology: Classics and Postclassics (Figure 2). Please make sure to read in advance before attending the lecture.
Synopsis: The Interdisciplinary Translation Center of the College of Foreign Languages at Jilin University will conduct a book reading activity on “Classical Narratology” based on the reading of the classic work Western Narratology: Classics and Post-Classics. This is the second reading session, and the main points of the reading include: story time and discourse time, chronology, time spacing, and frequency in literary works. The literary works that will be discussed include Mulan’s Tale, Journey to the West, Red Sorghum, Robinson Crusoe, One Hundred Years of Solitude and other classic Chinese and foreign literary works.
Participation: This is an offline activity. To ensure order, the number of participants is limited to 35. Please join the academic salon group (Figure 1) first, and fill out the form in the group to register, and the valid participation list will be based on the registration form (Figure 3).
