Professor Peng Qinglong from Shanghai Jiao Tong University provides guidance for the application of National Social Science Fund projects for teachers in our college

In order to further improve the application of National Social Science Fund projects in our School, enhance the application quality of National Social Science Fund projects, create an academic atmosphere of pursuing excellence, and promote the steady development of discipline construction and scientific research of our School, on the evening of December 20, 2022, Peng Qinglong, distinguished Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and "Cheung Kong Scholars Programme" of the Ministry of Education, and leading talent (famous teacher) of the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program", held a National Social Science Fund project guidance meeting for teachers of our School through Tencent Meeting. Office of Humanities & Social Sciences and the School of Foreign Studies of Jilin University co-hosted the guidance meeting, which was presided over by Zhang Meimei, dean of the School of Foreign Studies. A total of 30 teachers participated online.

Professor Peng Qinglong first introduced the common problems in the topic selection of scientific research projects, which include six categories, such as too big, too small, too empty, too old, too long and overheating. In view of the problems existing in the project topic selection, Professor Peng put forward specific solutions. Next, he summarized and sorted out the overall idea of the declaration form, analyzed the domestic and foreign research status and filling principles and methods. In view of the project value, content, innovation, research methods, references, language expression, research team, early results and other contents, Professor Peng made a detailed explanation one by one based on specific examples. In the free question session, the participating teachers raised a lot of confusion on the subject application, Professor Peng patiently answered questions and gave careful guidance. He hit the key point with his advice on the subject to be declared, providing teachers with insights and a lot of inspiration. The teachers said that they benefited a lot and that the application guidance had the desired effect.
